Our Story

"From Grazing to Amazing"

Alpaca to Apparel began in 2008 with the purchase of just three Huacaya alpacas. What started as a small family venture quickly grew into a passion for raising alpacas and creating high-quality, luxurious clothing. Today, our herd has grown—and so has our world-class collection of alpaca apparel.

Founded by Benjamin Kornowski, Alpaca to Apparel reflects years of hard work, family dedication, and a love for alpaca fiber. Ben, a 2018 graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, started raising alpacas with his family as a teenager. In 2010, he and his grandmother, Paula, invested in two female alpacas to begin a breeding program. Throughout high school and college, the Kornowski family opened a small store on their farm and sold products at local farmers markets.

A turning point came in 2016, when Ben, his mother Kelly, and Grandma Paula traveled to Peru—the heart of the alpaca textile world. That first visit deepened their appreciation for the craftsmanship and cultural heritage behind the fiber. Inspired, Ben opened his first stand-alone store in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. In 2019, the store relocated around the corner to a stunning 2,000-square-foot flagship space in the heart of Founders Square, becoming a must-visit destination in Door County.

In 2025, we proudly expanded with the opening of our newest location in Sister Bay. This bright and inviting space allows us to connect with even more customers and showcase our growing line of handcrafted alpaca apparel and accessories. Whether you're visiting Fish Creek or exploring Sister Bay, you'll find the same commitment to quality, comfort, and exceptional design.

At Alpaca to Apparel, we are proud to offer unique, fashion-forward pieces made from the finest baby alpaca fibers. Our garments are designed by skilled artisans and crafted with care—many are hand-knit, hand-crocheted, hand-finished, and hand-inspected to meet the highest standards. Every piece reflects the values we hold dear: sustainability, craftsmanship, and warmth—in every sense of the word.
